Biography
Chan, the Macau
Open champion in 2011, former Hong Kong national champion made her first
appearance on the WSA World Tour back in 2003, although did not hold a ranking
until 2005. She made her sub-100 debut
in 2006 after reaching the first round as a qualifier in both the Buler and
Crocodile Challenge Cups. Joey repeated this feat the following year, forcing
herself further up the rankings, after which she gained credible semi-final
appearances in the NSC Tour 12 No2 and Taiwan Open.
Further
appearances as a qualifier in the 2009 World & Seoul Open’s, Hughada
International and Qatar Classics announced Joey as an exciting prospect to the
top of the women’s game, and her first WSA title came in 2010 in the Indian
Challenger No.4. With her rankings now
well into the 30’s, she later claimed the China Open and Chairman’s Cup in
September of the same year.
2011 saw
her claim the Macau Open in which she defeated Aisling Blake in the final which
saw her take the big step into the world’s top 20, and most recently beat top
seed Rachael Grinham to the 2012 Buler Challenge Cup. She finished runner-up in the Atlantis Open
as top seed, and later made the first round of the China Open as a
qualifier. She also played to her
seeding in the Hong Kong Open by reaching the second round of the
competition.
The No.2
seed finished runner-up in the Meadowood Pharmacy Open in early 2013 as well as
reaching the quarter finals of the Tournament of Champions and Buler Cup and
the semi final of the Asian Championships.
